- Various sangha members — Thursday night dharma talks
The Dharma talks archived here represent a living tradition of shared wisdom, offered by both longstanding sangha members and visiting teachers who have passed through the open door of this community. Each talk captures a moment of genuine inquiry, where the timeless teachings of the Buddha meet the real conditions of modern life. Whether exploring the foundations of mindfulness or the subtle nuances of loving-kindness, these recorded sessions invite listeners to return again and again to what matters most: the cultivation of presence, compassion, and insight. They are gifts freely given, meant to support your practice wherever you may be on the path.
Thursday night gatherings have long been the heart of this sangha's weekly rhythm, a steady container for collective meditation and shared exploration of the dharma. The talks from these evenings reflect the intimacy and trust that develops when people sit together regularly, allowing honest questions about suffering, freedom, and the nature of mind to arise naturally. Speakers draw from both classical Buddhist sources and their own lived experience, offering teachings that are grounded, accessible, and immediately applicable. This ongoing cycle of sitting and listening nourishes individual practice while strengthening the bonds of community.
Retreat settings provide a rare opportunity for sustained practice, and the retreat talks in this collection carry a particular depth and spaciousness. With days given over entirely to silence, sitting, and walking, the teachings that emerge during these intensive periods often cut straight to the heart of the matter. Themes such as renunciation, generosity, and emotional transformation are explored not as abstract concepts but as lived inquiries. These recordings can serve as a portable retreat, offering a taste of that concentrated energy and reminding listeners of the possibility of deep inner stillness even amid daily responsibilities.
The range of voices represented here speaks to the sangha's inclusive spirit, where each person's unfolding understanding enriches the whole. From longtime practitioners offering hard-won insights to newer voices sharing fresh perspectives, the diversity of expression mirrors the many entry points into Buddhist practice. Topics shift across the seasons, yet a consistent thread runs through all the talks: the invitation to investigate experience with kindness and curiosity. These teachings are not meant as final statements but as signposts along a shared journey, pointing toward the wisdom and freedom that arise when the heart and mind are trained in awareness.

About the Talks
Thursday night talks are offered by experienced sangha members and occasional visiting teachers. The first Monday of each month also features a short talk by a member during the weekly sitting group. All talks reflect the Insight (Vipassana) tradition and aim to support practice in daily life.
